The usual culprit for missed period negative pregnancy test results is stress.  Whether it's stress from work, from personal stuff or simply feeling the pressure of something in your life can thwart your internal working.  Stress can change you physically – hormonally more than you may think.  Many women undergo hormonal changes especially inhibiting normal menstrual cycles when they are stressed or when there is high anxiety.  So it is important to look back at how you lived your life the past month.  Was it full of overtimes, problems and concerns or was it stress-free.  More often than not, you've missed your period due to stress.

When you have missed period negative pregnancy test results, it can also be due to medications that you have been taking.  From pregnancy pills down to antibiotics, every drug can cause your hormones to misfire.  So check your medicine cabinet and tell your physician what you have been drinking.  Perhaps they can trace your delayed period to a drug o combination of drugs that you are taking.

Try checking the results of the test again.  You can use another brand of pregnancy test kits just to make sure that the initial test did not return an erroneous result.  Some kits are known to make errors so it's always good to do some retests.  If you still get a negative pregnancy test then, continue looking for the reason.

Age is also a good factor to consider.  Yes, if you're closing the gap between being fertile and menopause, then this can happen.  Missed period negative pregnancy test results can happen especially when you are close to menopause.  So in stead of checking anything else, check your birth certificate for your true age.

Anything that goes on your body especially on the chemical/hormonal level is very important.  If all these can be ruled out, then you need to consult a doctor so that you can make sure nothing is wrong.  Of course if this is the first few times you had a close cal with pregnancy, then don't worry as it happens.  However, if it continues, it is wise to get professional opinion just to rule out any medical problems.

Delays in your period are natural.  Many women can have faster or longer cycles than you.  Likewise, even you can have inconsistent cycles.  Just known what is normal for you and what's out of the ordinary.  From there, you and your doctor can find the cause.
